Telecom Business Women's Association Promotes
Women's Issues in the New Telecommunications Marketplace
January, 1999 (Houston, TX) - Recognizing the necessity to promote women in the rapidly expanding telecommunications market, Dr. Judy Reed Smith, CEO of ATLANTIC*ACM and Ilene Kaminsky, Vice President of Marketing for MultiMedia Publishing Corp., have taken appropriate action. The Telecom Business Women's Association has been established as a forum for professional women in all areas of the telecommunications industry.
The goal of this new organization is to provide a forum for women throughout this highly competitive industry to analyze, review and discuss the direction of telecommunications and women's roles as marketers, engineers, sales professionals, service providers, CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, presidents and directors. The first meeting will take place at Telecom Business
Ô '99 Anaheim at a breakfast held on March 29, 1999 at the Anaheim Hilton Hotel from 8 to 10 a.m. The breakfast is sponsored by Telecom BusinessÔ magazine and Atlantic*ACM.The association hopes to build a web site and establish a newsletter as a resource for career development and for the expansion of women's roles in the market. "As women have gained increasing influence in business and government, we have seen a positive change in how companies are run, and ultimately thrive. I am proud to be a part of a program that highlights and encourages women to strive for success," said Dr. Judy Reed Smith, CEO, ATLANTIC*ACM and founding member.
Membership is open, and charter members will meet in March to establish goals and elect a nominating committee to choose directors. "After realizing the absence of women on the speaking circuits in this industry, we felt that perhaps a meeting of the minds was necessary," said Ilene Kaminsky, Vice President of Marketing, MultiMedia Publishing and founding member. "We would certainly like to grow this association into one that provides the industry with a clearing house of professional women from every area of telecommunications,"
Ilene Kaminsky can be reached at 713-974-5252 or email at ikaminsky@telecombusiness.com for more information. Dr. Judy Reed Smith can be reached at 617-720-3700.
